How much of America is dotted with fast-food chain restaurants?Weather Sealed takes a map of America's fast-food joints and views it through the lens of "Star Wars" to show which areas are dominated by the McDonald's 12,000 strong fast-food empire and which are controlled by "rebel forces," a.k.a. everyone else.
The hold-outs?
Los Angeles is a Jack-in-the-Box enclave, and most of Texas seems to be Sonic territory. In the rest of the country, however, the McForce is strong.
If the rebel forces -- Wendy's, Burger King, Carl's Jr. and Dairy Queen among them -- were to join together, their empire would overtake the McForce, but Weather Sealed doesn't think its likely."The rebels already have the numbers -- over 24,000 locations in total -- but they've divided and conquered themselves by strict adherence to the peacetime principles of brand identity and corporate structure," Weather Sealed blogger Stephen Von Worley writes.
"Y'all need to work in harmony to succeed with the winning strategy: an Alliance!"
Yet, McDonald's holds strong in a few pockets of the Northeast and Midwest, even if the rebels do team up.
Kinda makes us want a burger.
