Google Earth - Hurricane Katrina Imagery

definitely the best way to look for a specific area along the MS gulf coast or in new orleans.

1. download and install google earth
2. click on the link for NOAA image overlays listed on sept 3.
3. find the area you wish to view and click on the red or blue dot
4. click on the link to the overlay to load the satellite image into google earth.

tech still fascinates me

ok. so i go to sonic tonight for dinner and i see for the first time that you can pay with a credit card at the little order station through a gas pump style card reader. while i’m waiting for my food i began to contemplate how long it took them to run the cable to each station through those existing metal poles. then i noticed this tube sticking out of the brick on the side of the building. i realized quickly that it must be an antenna for the wireless network running all these credit card readers. that’s cool to me. they didn’t have to run any cable at all. probably just took power off the existing circuits that run the lights and speaker and the use wi-fi to pass the data back and forth. if anyone is wardriving near a sonic, i’d be interested to know how much encryption is on that network that’s sending my credit card info over the air. let me know if you find out about that.
