Christmas Vacation

i’m back in mississippi. i was off for a total of 9 days with the christmas and new years holidays and the 3 vacation days i took. it was really nice to be off and not have to to anything. i had a really good time. most people my age complain about how they hate going home for extended periods of time and how glad they are to get back to their own house. i was actually a little sad today when i had to leave. i had a lot of fun with my sister and future bro-in-law and he and i put on a killer fireworks show last night. i highly advise driving across state lines to buy class C fireworks that go 300′ in the air. those things were awesome. we even put our show to music. it was an exceedingly good time.

this is the first saturday that i’ve been at home in 9 weeks i think…that was the last time i had to work the weekend so i know i was here then. i can’t think of another weekend since then that i’ve been here. i’ve either been in starkville for football, home for thanksgiving, or in NY for football and basketball games.

as i said in my last post its been a month since i even looked at this journal. i really can’t think of much that has happened to me since then. i’ve pretty much been working and going places on the weekends.

the dawgs finished a terrible season 3-9 and jackie fired sparky, joe lee and others to try to save his job for another year. there was lots of talk about r.c. slocumb or woody widenhoffer coming to state but that didn’t materialize. at this point we’ve hired a DC and defensive line coach. i heard on the radio yesterday that the decision has been made on OC but it won’t be announced until after the new year. i can only hope that next years season is better. i don’t know if we can stand another year of reallly bad football. the only thing i really hate about this year is that mario haggan and justin griffith got stuck on a bad team that will hurt them going into the NFL.

speaking of mario…mario austin finally got clear to play last week. his first game was the one we went to in madison square garden. mario had 28 as we beat the mess out of xavier up there. if they were really a no. 11 team then we are really underrated. they just couldn’t do anything against our defense. the best plays of the game were:
    1. Z blocking the 6′10″ dude as he tried to just lay it in on a fast break
    2. timmy bowers blocking a shot on defense, falling down, walking down the court without a xavier man noticing and taking the feed from Z for the baseline dunk
    3. the looks from the rest of the crowd as the rednecks “walked off” the xavier player #30 after he fouled out. they just couldn’t beleive that we would be so cruel…that we were enjoying him getting kicked out of the game.

i watched the ole miss/memphis game the other night and from the looks of it we should destroy the provine posse when we play in oxford in january.

anyway, i’m just sitting around today after working a few hours this morning. i probably need to start christmas shopping today. i’m just not looking forward to going into hattiesburg and fighting the crowd. i haven’t bought a single present yet so i’ve got plenty to do.

maybe it won’t be another month before i post another entry.

like i figured when i started this thing, i haven’t posted anything in quite a while. its been over a month since i updated it. i’m pretty tired right now so i’m not even going to attempt to think of all that has gone on in the last month. i’ve been to NYC twice. once for the army/navy game and once for the MSU/Xavier basketball game. both trips were fun. i lile NYC but i’d never want to live there. i think i did figure out why yankees aren’t usually as nice (read happy) as southerners…3 reasons: no good looking southern women around, generally no walmart within an hour’s drive, and surprisingly few places to eat…especially in new jersey.

anyway, i’m gonig to bed and try to catch up on my sleep. maybe i’ll go back through the last month later on here.

i got to thinking today, “what would i get if my visor died today?” i haven’t’ quite had it a year but i’ve used it almost every day and there is always the chance that it could go belly up. also, its fun to shop for what you want next ;) i’ve said for a while that my next PDA will be color and i love the visor. but since handspring is concentrating all their efforts on the treo and i’m still not sure that i want a cell phone and PDA in one, i think i may have to go with a different brand. i got to looking around and right now i really want one of the new sony clie with the built in digital camera. its a little bigger than my current visor but i think i could get used to that. its a really slick little machine but it just came out and its $600. that’s a little too steep for me but maybe it’ll be down in price before i have to buy a new palm
